Connecting to the Internet on an Xbox
Connect your Xbox One, Series S or Series X to our WiFi router. We'll also get you connected if you’re using a Playstation or Nintendo Switch.
Connecting an Xbox, Playstation or Nintendo Switch
Before you get started you’ll need your wireless SSID and password.
Finding your wireless name and password
The wireless name is the wireless SSID and password is the wireless key. You’ll find the info you need on a sticker on the bottom or back of the router or on a pull-out tab. The SSID will look something like this: PLUSNET-1A2B3C or PlusnetWireless1A2B3C.
Your wireless key might sometimes be called the WPA PSK. The key is made up of a series of numbers and upper and lower case letters.

Here’s how:
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
- Select Profile & system, then Settings, then General, Network settings.
- Select Set up wireless network.
- Select our router's Wireless name. It'll start with Plusnet.
- The password is the Wireless key or WPA-PSK key shown on the bottom of our router. Enter this, then select OK or press the + button on your controller.
Top tip:
Your wireless key is case sensitive, so enter any upper and lower case letters and numbers as shown on the router and you’ll be fine.
That’s it. You’re good to go. Let the fun and online gaming begin!
Connect my Playstation to WiFi
All you need to get your Playstation 5 or Playstation 4 connected
Connect your PS5 console to Plusnet WiFi
Here’s how:
- Go to Settings, select Network, then Set Up Internet Connection.
- In ‘Networks found,’ select our router's Wireless name. It'll start with Plusnet.
- The password is the Wireless key or WPA-PSK key shown on the bottom of our router. Enter this, then select OK.
- If you enable WiFi Protected Setup, labelled WPS on our router. Select Set Up using WPS Button and follow the on-screen instructions.
- That’s it. You’re good to go. Let the fun and online gaming begin.

Your wireless key is case sensitive, so enter any upper and lower case letters and numbers as shown on the router and you’ll be fine.
Connect your PS4 console to Plusnet WiFi
- Go to Settings, select Network, then select Set Up Internet Connection.
- Select Use Wi-Fi, then select Easy.
- Select our router's Wireless name. It'll start with Plusnet.
- The password is the Wireless key or WPA-PSK key shown on the bottom of our router. Enter this, then select OK.
- Select Test Internet Connection.

A step by step guide to connecting your Nintendo Switch
Connect your Nintendo Switch to Plusnet WiFi
Here’s how:

- Select Internet, then Internet Settings.

- Plug one end of an Ethernet cable into one of the ports on the back of our router and the other end into the Ethernet cable into the port on the back of your Xbox labelled LAN.
- Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
- Select Profile & System, then Settings, then General, then Network Settings.
- Select Test Connection. Your Xbox will check your network.
Get ready to start gaming.
Connect my Playstation to a wired connection
Connect your Playstation using an Ethernet cable.
Connect your PS5 or PS4 to a wired connection

To connect your PS5 or PS4 to a Plusnet router you’ll need to use an Ethernet cable. Ethernet cables have yellow ends.
Plug one end of an Ethernet cable into one of the ports on the back of our router and the other end into the Ethernet cable into the port on the back of your Playstation labelled LAN.
To connect PS5:
- Go to Settings at the top of the screen
- Scroll down and select Network, then Settings, then Set Up Internet Connection
- Scroll to the Networks found and select Set Up Wired LAN
To connect PS4:
- Go to Settings at the top of the screen
- Select Network, then Set Up Internet Connection
- Select Use a LAN cable, then select Easy
- Click Test Internet Connection

Connect your Nintendo Switch to a wired connection
Your Nintendo Switch console must be used in TV mode to connect online using a wired connection.
- You’ll need to connect a wired LAN adapter to your Nintendo Switch dock.
- Connect an Ethernet cable to the LAN adapter and then connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to our router.
- Place your Nintendo Switch console into the Nintendo Switch dock.
- On your console HOME menu select System Settings.
- Select Internet, and then Internet Settings. Your Nintendo Switch will search for nearby WiFi networks.
- Then select Wired Connection.
- Select Connect to the Internet via Wired Connection.
- Your console will test the Internet connection. When the test is complete, select OK.
If this doesn’t work, you’ll get an error code and message to help you troubleshoot any connection problems.
Connect your Xbox to a wired connection
